My Macquarie dictionary says ‘Inconsistent with or violating the moral law, wicked’. Yes, I believe that says it all.It took a while for things to fall into place, but I knew I was on the right track. There were a few photos, some random notes and journal entries but I never would have figured it out. Not without the letter. That’s when the pieces started to fit. Sometimes the truth can be really hard to get your head around. It’s like entering the wrong information into your computer. Something inside says ‘incorrect, cannot be accepted’. I read the letter three times over before it began to sink in. When the penny finally dropped I broke into a cold sweat. No! I must have missed something. This can’t be right. I read it again, and I knew there was no way around it. The truth was right there in black and white…. Oh, God!Cold shock hit me like a fist in the face. Nausea rose in my stomach and my vision blurred. I swallowed hard, trying to stop the inevitable. I heard the crash of the chair as I knocked it flying in a wild dash for bathroom. I fell to my knees as I reached the toilet, embracing the cold white bowl like a long lost friend, losing my dinner in the process. How long I sat there I couldn’t say, but eventually the cool night air and the bitter taste of vomit in my mouth brought me back to reality. My stomach ached and my throat was raw but I hardly noticed. This was unbelievable. Why didn’t I know about this? How could I have missed it? This man is my husband!
